First announced in the Innovation Nation White Paper in March 2008, the Innovation Research Centre is a new £5 million hub for cutting-edge research in innovation, jointly hosted by the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. The Centre is funded by the Department for Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS), the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).
On Wednesday 4th March, the Centre and the funders are hosting two events. Invitees can attend one or both events (by clicking the appropriate boxes on the registration form). Lunch will be provided between the events.
‘Town hall’ meeting on distributed research projects

As part of the programme, the funders are commissioning a number of ‘distributed projects’, that is, for research to be conducted by organisations beyond the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. The purpose of the town hall meeting is to support the development of proposals by interested parties. Research launch on SME finance and innovation in the recession

As part of the launch of the Innovation Research Centre, The Centre for Business Research at Cambridge University will present the latest findings from its long-running surveys of SMEs. In particular, the findings will focus on the impact of the current recession, and provide a comparison with the recession of the early 1990s. Attendees will also be provided with an introduction to the work of the Innovation Research Centre. |
